Common Weal Policy was passed overwhelmingly at SNP Conference today

Today at the SNP Conference delegates voted overwhelmingly in favour of setting up a Scottish Energy Development Agency (SEDA) and thereby have adopted  Common Weal’s key policies as one of their own one in the campaign to decarbonise Scotland’s energy networks and create a Green New Deal in Scotland. Common Weal wishes to thank all of the delegates who voted for the motion and to everyone involved in front of and behind the scenes who have helped bring the campaign to this successful milestone. Thanks go especially to Keith Baker, Ron Mould, Gordon Morgan and Iain Wright our Common Weal Energy Working Group who co-authored our paper on the SEDA and are both absolutely delighted with this news.

The Scottish Energy Development Agency will serve as a strategic body for identifying areas of need in Scotland – be this areas of absolute poverty or areas where the current energy network can be upgraded and decarbonised in line with Scotland’s Green New Deal ambitions.

This is the FIFTH national company policy from Common Weal that has been passed overwhelmingly by SNP delegates.

A clear vision of what alternative future looks like is starting to take shape:

We work hard, but we are only as strong as our support base. If you become a Sustaining Supporter of Common Weal today your contribution will help us create more policies like this which will transform Scotland for the better.
